Seahawks to the Super Bowl

Local cable broadcast the Seahawks game about 10 hours after it was over back in Seattle. I tried my best not to find out the results of the game before the game was on TV, but inadvertently saw the news a couple hours before and saw that the Hawks won. At least I didn't know the score or what happened so it was still a great game to watch. It was pretty clear from the beginning which way it would go, too. With any luck they'll broadcast the Super Bowl here, too. Saw former QB Jim Zorn on the sidelines, all of ours hero 30 years ago when we were kids. (Reuters photo)

Elephant riding in Chiang Mai

I had to head up to Chiang Mai for work for five days so Dung took the same flight up and hung around Chiang Mai seeing the sights in Thailand's second city. Chiang Mai is up north and in more rugged territory than the plains around Bangkok. I hadn't seen mountains for so long it surprised me when I looked out the window one day and saw actual forest on actual hills. Dung took it one better and took an elephant safari at the Maetamann Elephant Camp, saddling up on an elephant for an hour and trekking through the jungle, then rafting down the river on a little bamboo raft. Meanwhile I sat in meetings all day. But at night we got out to see the town, which is really pretty adorable.

Happy New Year!

We rang in the new year with a bunch of friends, some we've known for a while, others we just met that night. The big hit was after about 2 am when we brought out our never-used quesadilla maker and fried up a few. Just the thing for a post-party snack. The next day we did brunch with some of the same people at a friend's house, but didn't start until about 2 pm. Good time for eggs and bacon.
