USA vs. Italy

Last night we had about 20 people over to watch the US-Italy match in the World Cup, a pretty good turnout considering the game didn't start until 2:00 am. About half the crowd was Italian, including a couple Italian friends working at the U.N. and some friends of theirs. The rest were mostly American, of course. A pretty raucous group and lots of cheering at what turned out to be quite a physical match; the refs gave out three red cards. The U.S. held on for a tie one-one, despite being a man down for almost the entire second half.

wowee! sounds like fun. i think you had more people at your place watching the game than we did in upper manhattan.

wish we could be there. watching the 1998 world cup in saigon is still a vivid memory for me!(i'll never forget the sites of people crowding street corners in the middle of the night around a tiny black and white tv watching a match).

have fun!

That was a great game. I thought the USA had pulled out a win, but the goal was disallowed. The 1 red card to the Italian was deserved, but the 2 given to the Americans were bad calls. USA is still alive!
